Calling all basketball players!

There will be open tryouts for the KSA-Lower Antipolo basketball team to compete in the Rizal Basketball League 1st Ka Rex Cayanong “Target” Invitational Cup at the Saarland Covered Basketball Court at 4 p.m., Saturday, December 23.

The tryout is open to all basketball players including active and former professional basketball players in the Philippine Basketball Association and other pro leagues. It will be open to active and former varsity players playing in school leagues like the UAAP or the NCAA.

Sports coordinators from the different towns of Rizal, led by Salvador Arabit of the Rizal Sports Office, recently met at the Ynares Center with league commissioner Gilbert Dulfo to finalize the format of the tournament.

The tournament, which starts in 2018, will have two divisions. The open division and the junior division. The teams will represent the towns and city of Rizal Province.

The open division is open to all players including active and former professional basketball players in the PBA and other pro leagues. It will be open to active and former varsity players playing in school leagues like the UAAP or the NCAA.

Teams are encouraged to include residents of the towns (or city) they are representing. However, the division is also open to non residents.

The junior division is for residents of the town (or city) which the team will represent. It will be under 17 with players born 2002 and later allowed to participate.

Rex Cayanong hosts Target on Air broadcast over DWAD 1098. He is also a columnist of Hataw tabloid.
