Rizal Province Governor Rebecca “Nini” Ynares, Vice Governor Reynaldo San Juan Jr., Vice Mayor of Antipolo City, Josefina G. Gatlabayan, officials and employees of the Rizal and Antipolo City government gathered in front of the statue of Jose Rizal in the Rizal Provincial Capitol to commemorate the Philippine national hero’s death anniversary and his life’s work last December 30, 2017.

The governor said Rizal would appreciate that the province named after him is the most competitive province in the country.

“Sa palagay ko sa araw na ito, kung nakikita lang tayo ni Dr. Jose Rizal ay matutuwa siya sapagkat ang lalawigan ng Rizal ngayon is considered the most competitive province in the Philippines. We are also the second richest province in the Philippines. I would also like to thank the leadership of Antipolo City for being the most competitive component city in the country,” said Governor Ynares.

As I thank all of you for our accomplishments, I would like to encourage you to do better until mabalik natin ang ating dating katayuan as the premiere province of the Philippines. At gusto kong ipaalala sa inyo na isa sa mga naging components in being most competitive ay ang environment kaya ang Yes program ay kailangan talaga nating isulong.”

Vice Governor San Juan gave the opening remarks. He cited the birth of different prominent individuals in history who had profound contributions to the world such as, Jesus Christ, George Washington, Sun Yat Sen, Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill.

He said Rizal was like them and his death served as a sacrifice which paved the way for the freedom and prosperity we now enjoy.
